Vitamin D is vital for bone, muscle, and immune health. Many people in the UK have low vitamin D, especially in autumn and winter when sunlight is weak.
We measure 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OH D) — the most reliable marker of your vitamin D status — from a small blood sample.
You're more likely to have low vitamin D if you:
- Get little sun exposure - work indoors, cover skin, or use high-SPF constantly.
- Live in the UK - sunlight is weaker October – March.
- Have darker skin - more melanin reduces vitamin D synthesis.
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or over 65.
- Follow a vegan/vegetarian diet or eat little oily fish/fortified foods.
Low vitamin D levels can have no symptoms or cause:
- Tiredness, low mood, or “winter slump”
- Aches, muscle weakness, or bone/joint pain
- Frequent colds and infections
The optimal vitamin D level is debatable but we recommend using the following levels:
Vitamin D (nmol/L) Interpretation < 25 Deficient 25 – 50 Insufficient 50 – 75 Normal 75 – 175 Optimal 175 – 200 High normal > 200 Very high

Collect your sample at home and send it back to our UKAS-accredited lab for analysis.
Get rapid results
We'll let you know when the lab have received your sample for analysis.
You'll get your results and doctor's report in your online dashboard. You'll also be able to download your formal lab report to share with your GP if you wish.
Improve your health
Numbers are useful but it's what you do with them that counts.
We'll give you advice on how to improve your health based on your results. You can also book a consultation to discuss your results with one of doctors (costs extra).

We do not recommend using this test panel if you:
- are a child (17 years or under)
- are pregnant
- are feeling acutely unwell - e.g. with a cold or flu or if you have new-onset (i.e. within the last few days) symptoms.
