My thoughts after completing the Selph Health Reset Programme

I’ve just finished the Selph Health Reset Programme. Find out why I think it works and my advice if you’re thinking of starting it!

It's been a few weeks since I finished the 12-week Selph Health Reset Programme and I wanted to reflect on the experience as a whole. I’ll go over why I think the program works (I highly recommend it!) and my advice if you’re thinking it might be right for you.

Thank you

Firstly, I want to say thank you to my wonderful coach who supported me throughout my coaching journey and to Selph for designing such a thorough and enjoyable course. I’ve never done any form of coaching before and it was a magical first experience. I feel truly transformed and so much more capable after finishing the program.

My motivations

Why I chose health coaching was on the surface about eating healthier, snacking less and exercising more. But underneath it turned out to have a much deeper meaning for me. It was all about having confidence in my abilities, choices and relationships with others. I know now that I do have that confidence and I’m so grateful that I did this course to understand myself better and cultivate that strength.

Confidence in myself

Before I started the course I expected I would be pushed towards exercising multiple times a week and as soon as the program was over I would fall out of the habit because I didn’t enjoy it.

But Selph encouraged me to consider lots of different forms of exercise at my own pace. I found one I loved and looked forward to doing and this made all the difference. It was the same pattern for all of the other areas we worked on.

I think that’s one thing that sets the Selph Health Reset Program apart. Your coach and the resources encourage you to take your time to find what feels right for you. That’s the most important part and the reason your healthy habits will last - the course works with you to find what will work for you.

The holistic approach

Your health isn’t just how much exercise you do or the food you eat - it’s a combination of all of these factors and includes your mental health, how much you’re sleeping per night, your sense of fulfilment in life and your connection with others.

The holistic design of the Selph Health Reset Program means it covers everything you need based on the key pillars of health. These are: move, eat, sleep, engage and restore. No weekly theme was unimportant. They’ve all been carefully constructed to build on these pillars and you’ll take something new away from each and every week.

Make the effort

One thing I would emphasise is that you get out what you put in. If you don’t complete the weekly resources, don’t check in with your coach on a regular basis, or don’t communicate your authentic goals or what you’re struggling with, then there’s only so much your coach can do to help.

It’s you making the choice to do the program, so you have to engage to get the most out of it. Your coach will help give you support, tools, guidance and accountability, but the real change and results are all coming from you. After you finish the program, you’ll have the tools to create new healthy habits and the ability to hold yourself accountable.

Personally, I used the Daily Checklist every day to note down any progress, my thoughts on the theme and anything that had come up for me that I was struggling with. It helped me to reflect more on each passing day and I have very clear cut memories from each weekly theme because of this. It also meant that my coach got to know me even better, rather than just connecting with me in the video sessions.

Engage with your coach

Get fully stuck into the program. It’ll be worth it for what you take away from the experience. The program isn’t time-consuming - just doing a little bit every day will really pay off. Before you know it, a 10 minute meditation session will feel like it passes in the blink of an eye.

Be kind to yourself

It happens to all of us - we have a busy day or something unexpected happens and we don’t get something checked off our list. I noticed I felt a massive difference in my mood when I missed just one meditation, didn't make the time to go outside that day or fell behind on my gratitude practice.

But don’t berate yourself if this happens - sometimes it takes not doing something to realise what a positive impact it usually has on you and that you feel better during or after you’ve done it. It’s a very worthwhile experience to have and as long as you pick the habit back up again, it’s never too late to continue with your progress.
